I came across an interesting wikipedia entry about telescopic fishing rods. One of the most interesting things in this article was this quote…
“The shorter the sections the shorter they close, the more eyes they have, and the better the power curve is in them. More eyes means better weight and stress distribution throughout the parabolic arc. This translates to further casting, stronger fish fighting abilities, and less breaking of the rod.”
It’s an important point to remember that modern telescopic rods are much better designed and constructed than earlier versions. This author knows his stuff and he’s saying that many short sections and many eyes actually make the rod perform better than conventional rods. There’s something to think about.
