I had one of these rods will I was flying a small floatplane in Ontario. It was really handy to fold up and throw in the float compartment and forget about. I caught several good size pike and some pickerel with it and never had any problems.

I have an 8′ Trimarc telescopic fly rod. I saw one go for ebay on 8/17/11 for around $13+shipping. I’ve used it up in the depths RMNP and Indian Peaks Wilderness in CO and have had lots of success with it to catch greenback cutts, brookies, and bows. Not the highest quality rod, but it’s lightweight and does the job for long backpacking trips. Decent action for a cheap rod as well.

The Diabolo V45 appears to be the ideal telescoping fishing rod for my son, who hikes and camps frequently. He would like to use it for trout and also for some nearshore saltwater fishing. Can you recommend a compatible reel? I was thinking of a Flueger.

What I really need is a website where I can order it online before his birthday arrives.

its a hike to the river so its a one rod..deal and I have been using medium action rods and its obvious the rod is..not loading up as it does with the heavier lures like a chug bug which I..whale a mile and figure I need to break down and get a ML rated action..at least.so my question all things equal same make of rod same line same..reel same lure weight rating for overall casting distance would it..be better to get the 76 over the 7 footer? I also fly fish and a longer rod gives you some..advantages over a shorter one assuming you have the room to use it…1 A long rod does give you a slight casting distance improvement…2 Longer rods give you better line control.

With the increase in technology for fly rods I’m surprised that we haven’t seen a high end telescopic fly rod. I know it would become my favourite if it can perform decently.
